Quebec and strategies to support and enhance collaboration on POSCO Future M
projects.
On the 8th, the Energy Transition Valley delegation from
Quebec, Canada, visited POSCO Future M's Pohang cathode material plant.
The delegation comprises three municipalities, including Bécancour
in Quebec, where POSCO Future M is constructing the cathode material plant,
Trois-Rivières, and Quebec University. These entities are part of a provincial
government organization in Quebec that is jointly participating in an industry-academia-research
collaboration project. The project aims to discover and commercialize
innovative ideas for export and foster both domestic and international
investments.
The delegation visiting POSCO Future M's Pohang cathode
material plant included 13 members, including Lucie Allard (Mayor of Bécancour),
Jean Lamarche (Mayor of Trois-Rivières), Michel Anger (Mayor of Shawinigan),
and Adel Omar Dahmane (Vice President of Quebec University, Trois-Rivières).
As the cathode material plant of Ultium CAM, a joint
venture between POSCO Future M and GM, approaches completion, the delegation
visited the POSCO Future M site to △tour the processes, △benchmark local workforce training in Quebec, and △discuss strategies to support and strengthen collaboration
on projects within Quebec.
Lucie Allard, Mayor of Bécancour, stated, "The local
community has great expectations and interest regarding the joint venture being
constructed by POSCO Future M. We hope to continue our exchanges and
cooperation to nurture the local industry and workforce."
Shin Yang-su, Group Leader of POSCO Future M's Pohang
Cathode Material Division, remarked, "We request substantial support to
ensure the successful establishment of POSCO Future M's cathode material
business in the local area," and added, "We anticipate that the
infrastructure in the Quebec region and POSCO Future M's business experience
will contribute to Quebec's new growth drivers."
Meanwhile, POSCO Future M invited 21 key personnel from
Ultium CAM's local workforce to undergo one month of job training in Pohang
from June 10th.
