- Unveiling R&D roadmap for cathode and anode materials to
drive electric vehicle performance and mass adoption
- Introducing next-generation materials such as solid electrolytes
and group-level supply chain achievements
- Hosting various events, including electric bicycle prize
giveaways featuring POSCO Future M materials
POSCO
Future M will participate in InterBattery 2025, held at COEX Seoul, from March
5 to 7. It will highlight its cathode and anode technology roadmap and the
group-level supply chain achievements spanning raw materials, battery
materials, and recycling.
This year,
POSCO Group will participate in InterBattery under the theme “Move on, Change
the Future,” with POSCO Future M taking the lead. The exhibition booth will be
451 m², 25% larger than last year. To help visitors experience the technology
and project in an accessible and engaging way, the company will display samples
of cathode and anode materials, lithium, nickel, and products utilizing POSCO
Future M’s battery materials, such as electric vehicles and power tools. The
company plans to enhance exhibition immersion through virtual 3D videos
displayed on a large vertical media wall and panoramic display.
POSCO
Future M will prominently feature new battery material technologies and
products designed to overcome the electric vehicle chasm. The company will
present detailed research and development status and roadmaps for Ultra Hi-Ni
(Ultra High Nickel) single crystal cathode materials with nickel content
exceeding 95% to increase EV driving range and stability, low-expansion natural
graphite anode materials and silicon anode materials that significantly reduce
battery charging time while increasing storage capacity, and LMR (Lithium
Manganese Rich), LMFP (Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate), and high-voltage
mid-nickel cathode materials that will lead to mass adoption by lowering
electric vehicle prices alongside LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate).
Additionally,
the exhibition will showcase next-generation materials being developed by POSCO
Holdings POSCO N.EX.T Hub that will be game changers for the future battery
industry, such as solid electrolytes and lithium metal anodes, as well as steel
products for electric vehicles, including POSCO International’s drive motor
cores and POSCO’s battery pack and cylindrical battery can materials. The
company will also present the achievements and status of the supply chain
establishment, including POSCO Holdings’ Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE)
technology and nickel wet refining process technology.
POSCO Group
has expanded investments in Argentina’s lithium salt lakes, Australia’s lithium
mines, Indonesia’s nickel smelting business, and Africa’s graphite mines.
Moving forward, the group plans to strengthen its business competitiveness by
preemptively securing premium resources, utilizing the electric vehicle chasm
period as an opportunity to enhance competitiveness.
Meanwhile, POSCO Future M will hold various events for visitors during the exhibition. Visitors can experience generating electricity by pedaling a bicycle generator installed at the booth, with the generated electricity being converted and accumulated for donation to welfare institutions. Moreover, through a drawing, a total of 12 people (4 people each day for 3 days) will receive prizes, including electric bicycles, electric kickboards, power tool sets, and drones.
